Learning Goal: I’m working on a psychology project and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
I need this paper by 10 PM tonight. And there are three articles to read as a source. I only need the introduction, method section, and the reference page in APA format :
The introduction, the Method section, and the references. You can put a title page on this document as practice, but it is not required, FYI…
The introduction section does not need the title of the introduction, you simply start writing it. Paragraphs are indented like a regular paper. As a reminder, I will go over the format so you have it (and consult your handout for more details): It looks like an upside-down triangle in format, going from general statements of your topic and ending with your 3 specific hypotheses.
The first paragraph should be introducing the broad topic (cheating or however you changed your study). The 2nd paragraph should be a one-paragraph review of the seed article, with one sentence giving the background of the study, one sentence giving the method they used (roughly), one sentence revealing the result of the study, and one sentence talking about the implication of the study (what does it mean in the real world?). The other 2 articles you found in the last assignment should be done the same way.
After those 3 paragraphs, there should be a couple of sentences to a paragraph about how it changed from the original seed article. Use a transitional sentence like “In the current study we…” and then explain briefly how your study differs from the seed article.
The last paragraph/portion is the 3 hypotheses you outlined in your proposal: 2 main effects and interaction (or lack thereof?)
For the Method section, it should be written in the same style you did the Stroop task, with the bold and centered title of Method, and the 4 sections that follow. For this paper, lets assume you had 80 participants. You can make up their demographics however you like. You can say they were compensated with course credit or extra credit (as we would have given in class).
In the design section, this is where you would give me both IVs and their levels (and operationally define them), the DV (original or if you changed it), and we will go forward as if it is a between subjects design (unless you otherwise noted in your proposal), and that the scale of measurement is ratio.
Normally in the materials and apparatus, you would have listed materials your group made in this section, but since we did not do that you can keep some of the materials used in the original study. As you would normally make up your own surveys or questionnaires for most experiments, for this one if we assume you are using the same RAT test as the original study, I would like you to make up 2 questions at least as an example of the test. For the last section, the procedures, this is the section where you can use your imagination and research skills. The steps that participants take in your study are up to you, so write this as you would envision your study would go!
The Method section goes right after the introduction, so DO NOT PUT IT ON A SEPARATE PAGE or you will lose points…
The References are on a separate page, however, so make sure you don’t have them on the same page. I want to remind you that the references are listed alphabetically by the first author’s last name, so if you have 3 references (and you can have more than 3 for the record, but 3 is the MINIMUM), I will show you how they would be listed:
If there is a paper written by Santiago, Heredia, and Valdez, you could list it as Santiago, et. al.
Another paper written by Cantu & Alvarez, and the 3rd paper written by Soto.
They would be listed by the last name of the 1st author (1st name):
Cantu & Alvarez
Santiago, et. al.
If you happen to have 2 papers by the same author (Cardona 2018; Cardona 2015), you would list them in chronological order:
Cardona, et. al., 2015
